Ukraine finds itself in unchartered, unstable territory. The EuroMaidan protests – triggered by the government's last minute decision not to sign the European Union Association Agreement – have been continuously stoked, most recently by the passage of legislation curtailing rights of civil society and freedoms of assembly and association.
